In an emergency
If someone threatens to hurt you or anyone else, or you believe a person is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services straight away (000 in Australia). Don't wait to message us first.
Then tell us what happened through Support, with screenshots if you can, so we can act on the account involved.
About insurance
We want to be clear: TaskCoast does not provide insurance for tasks, taskers or posters. No policy covers lost files, data breaches, missed deadlines or other losses on a task booked through TaskCoast.
- Your protection on TaskCoast is escrow: the money stays held until you release it, and our team reviews both sides of a dispute before any of it moves.
- Freelancers who run a business may hold their own professional indemnity insurance. If cover matters for your project, ask about it before you accept an offer.
- Back up your files and keep copies of delivered work, so a lost file or a closed account never means lost work.
How we help keep you safe
- Payments held in escrow. When you accept an offer, the money moves from your wallet into escrow. The tasker is paid only when you release it.
- Badges reviewed by people. Our team checks ID documents and working with children checks before a badge appears, and reviews every linked social account. Hover a badge to see when it was verified.
- Real reviews. Reviews can only be left after a task on TaskCoast, by the two people involved.
- Private details stay private. Emails, phone numbers and wallet balances are never shown on public pages, and contact details typed into public questions and offers are hidden automatically.
- Reports and blocks. Report any member, task or message, and block someone so they can't contact you.
Tips for posters
- Read profiles, reviews and badges before you accept an offer.
- Keep chat on TaskCoast until you're comfortable. It keeps a record if anything goes wrong.
- For online work, share only the access the task needs, like a test account, a staging link or a shared folder. Never send your own passwords, and remove access when the work is done.
- Never pay outside TaskCoast. Off platform payments aren't protected and break our rules.
- Never share banking or payment logins. On a screen share, close other tabs first and stop sharing before you type a password.
- For tutoring under 18s, a parent or guardian should post the task and stay involved. Look for the Working with children badge.
Tips for taskers
- Check the task details and ask questions before you send an offer.
- For online tasks, use your own accounts, never install anything you don't trust, and never share your sign in codes or payout details.
- Be wary of tasks that ask you to download files from unknown links or install remote access software. If something feels wrong, stop and contact us.
- Never log in to a poster's account to do quick tasks, and never lend or rent out your own accounts.
- Don't take on work you don't have the skills for.
- Never buy gift cards, crypto or anything else for a poster with your own money. That's a common scam.
- Keep copies of your work until the poster releases payment.
Spotting scams
Be careful if someone:
- asks you to pay, or to be paid, outside TaskCoast
- sends a link to "confirm your payment" on another website
- asks for your password, a verification code or your payout details
- asks you to sign in through a link that doesn't go to taskcoast.com
- asks for ID documents or personal details the task doesn't need
- offers far more than the job is worth, or asks you to buy gift cards
- pushes you to move to another messaging app straight away
Reporting a problem
Use the Report button on a profile, task or message. Reports are private and reviewed by our team, usually within a day.
If a task went wrong and you can't sort it out together, use Get help with this task on the task page. We review both sides before any money in escrow moves.
For anything else, open a ticket in Support.
Something not right?
Report it or ask our team. We read every message.
